A Picnic at the Eiffel Tower | Paris

Queue the Louis Armstrong version of La Vie en rose and some tears because reviewing these photos makes me long to be back in Paris again.

This summer Dakota and I had the incredible opportunity to go travel to Europe and of course Paris was on our list of places to see. We were lucky enough to have family join us on this trip. As we came up with the perfect travel itinerary, a picnic at the Eiffel Tower was a sure thing on our list.

First of all, here are a few tips when if comes to navigating Paris and the Eiffel tower. The city is large and divided into what they call arrondissements. We stayed in the 2nd and 5th arrondissement and looking back I preferred the 5th because it was farther away from all the traffic the Eiffel tower and the Louvre bring in. Here is a map to show you what I mean! I would suggest planning out ahead of time where you want to go. If you want to be able to walk to coffee shops or walk to the Eiffel tower plan ahead. If you want to be away from the business choose an arrondissement to stay in that has your needs. I suggest this mainly because taking a taxi in this city is nuts and things are so spread out that you will do a lot of walking.

Despite this, the Eiffel Tower truly lives up to all the hype. From the moment I stepped foot in this city the one word I can describe it with is romantic :). Everywhere we went I felt like I was in a movie. The energy of this city was unlike anywhere I have been. It was very inspiring and I feel like I understand the appeal to this place despite the traffic and major tourist attraction that it is. Each morning I threw on a dress! Wearing a dress is out of the norm for me. To me the U.S. is so much more casual when it comes to day to day clothing. It seemed like every girl I walked by was dressed so cute and usually wearing a dress. So I followed the trend! We would enjoy an Americano and a croissant and begin our day. It was a DREAM.

We took a taxi to the Eiffel tower and came prepared with everything we would need for a picnic. We arrived right as the sun was going down and the field began to fill up with guests waiting for the tower’s lights to turn on at night. We played music on our phone and sat in a sea of people just enjoying each others company. The atmosphere again felt like something out of a dream :).

If you ever get a chance to go, go! There is so much more I could say about the beauty of France, the culture, and the people who call it home. I am still processing it but all I know is I can’t wait to go back!
